A few days ago WhatsApp announced that they passed a very dangerous vulnerability in there very popular application- WhatsApp. This vulnerability can be used to hack into any phone by simply calling to that phone. To know how far we are secured in this vast world.

WhatsApp is very popular most of us use it, in fact, there are more than 1.5+ Billion users on it. All these users have been vulnerable for a while now for a very dangerous vulnerability where hackers can hack into any phone that has WhatsApp installed by simply calling you. You don't even need to answer the call. They can call while you are sleeping and you are not going to listen. Then it is enough to gain access to your phone. Then when they gain access they can even remove the call history in WhatsApp and notification in your phone.

Once a hacker accesses your phone it's game over. They will be able to see your contacts, call log, gallery, camera, mic and your applications, etc,. They can do it but they should social engineer the target. There are many powerful ways and tools to social engineering the target. They want you to simply click on some phishing links, or update a program, install a fake application so that they can send you a specially crafted program or script. In these ways, hackers are exploiting the voice over IP stack whenever a call is initiated and they would send you a no.of special crafted packets that will allow them to hijack the execution program and therefore to execute malicious code.

Facebook did release update make sure that you are using the latest version of WhatsApp for at least Android-2.19.135
Ios-2.19.51.
If you are using version before that you are probably in danger.

Moral:- Online is not so secure. Be careful of everything you do online. Don't install any Fake vulnerable applications in your phone. Take care.... ;-)
